"History of Wilkins Township, Allegheny County,
Pennsylvania" page 4.
"The Christian Linharts emigrated from Germany and after
living for a time in eastern Pennsylvania came west and
setteled in the area between Thompson and Chalfant Runs.
During the Revolutionary War, Christian Linhart had served
as an ensign in a Lancaster battalion which fought in the
battles of Brandywine and Germantown, was ordered to Fort
Pitt for garrison duty in 1778, and was mustered out in
1780. Land grants were issued in the name of Christian
Linhart on March 10, 1786 for 350 acres, and to Christian
Linhart Jr. on February 22, 1788 for an additional 150
acres. The Linharts built a log cabin in 1782 that has been
occupied for nearly two centuries and still stands in
splendid condition on Farnsworth Avenue. Restoration of the
Linhart family cemetery on Harrison Road has been the
1975-76 President's project of the Century Club of Wilkins
Township. The plot contains headstones dating back to
burials in 1775." page 5 ".... The United States census for
1790, for example, contains such entries as the following:
James Myers family, eleven; Christopher Linhart, twelve;
Agnes Powell, seven........."
