Notes for Christian Linhart

Excert from the bicentenial Booklet "History of Wilkins Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania" page 4.
"The Christian Linharts emigrated from Germany and after living for a time in eastern Pennsylvania came west and setteled in the area between Thompson and Chalfant Runs. During the Revolutionary War, Christian Linhart had served as an ensign in a Lancaster battalion which fought in the battles of Brandywine and Germantown, was ordered to Fort Pitt for garrison duty in 1778, and was mustered out in 1780. Land grants were issued in the name of Christian Linhart on March 10, 1786 for 350 acres, and to Christian Linhart Jr. on February 22, 1788 for an additional 150 acres. The Linharts built a log cabin in 1782 that has been occupied for nearly two centuries and still stands in splendid condition on Farnsworth Avenue. Restoration of the Linhart family cemetery on Harrison Road has been the 1975-76 President's project of the Century Club of Wilkins Township. The plot contains headstones dating back to burials in 1775." page 5 ".... The United States census for 1790, for example, contains such entries as the following: James Myers family, eleven; Christopher Linhart, twelve; Agnes Powell, seven........."
